Building A Business
Friday, February 05, 2016Most new business owners find that running their own business is more emotional and more time consuming than any kind of work they have ever done before. More often than not it can be a total roller coaster. If they love and believe in what they’re doing, it can also be the most rewarding job in the world. Starting a business is hard work, very hard work. Long hours are pretty much a given. There are few people who are disciplined enough that can get away with an eight-hour day, but most find themselves working more hours than they expected. An entrepreneur can not expect everything to go their way. They will be lucky if everything goes to plan when they are starting up. Everything will take a lot longer, cost more, and bring in less money than expected. Determination is one of a successful entrepreneur's outstanding characteristics. Unless they have a business partner, they'll be spending a lot of time alone working late hours. There are, of course, major pros to offset the cons. This is why so many people start their own business. A great thing is doing what you love everyday. Which means enjoying their job, all of the time. Owning a business will be challenging. With challenge comes reward so they'll get a fantastic sense of achievement. Another pro is being their own boss. Having control over almost everything is a definite pro. They can work when they want, where they want, for as long as they want, wearing what they want and, basically, doing everything the way that they want to do it. Ultimately, owning a business can be hard, stressful, and tiring, but in the end it can be incredibly rewarding.

Hello faithful blog readers! It is Collin and I’m back with another post. My dad owns his own leather making business. He makes leather bags and other products and sells them on an Etsy shop. Click here to check out his shop. Since I am involved in the process of making the goods I also get a behind-the-scenes look at running a business. When you are the owner of a business, you are working for no one but yourself. You are also responsible for everything that happens. That can be both good and bad. It can be good, because if you have a productive year, it is pleasing to be in charge. But it can also be bad because if anything goes wrong, you are the only one to blame. Secondly, when you own your own business you do all of the work. You can enjoy a feeling of accomplishment when you are finished with your product. However, you are the worker, so that means you do all the hard and tedious work, as well as the work you like to do. Lastly, your customers let you know what they think. When you get positive feedback, it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. If you have people who like your handiwork and they say so, then you are inspired by them and want to make it better and keep creating products. On the other hand, some people will not like your products so they will not say positive things and you could lose potential sales because of a negative comment. Nobody likes people telling them that they did a bad job, so when somebody tells you they don’t like what you made for them, you feel bad. That is a major con for some people because they don’t like being told they are bad. Some people, however, take the negativity and turn it into motivation to make better quality items. Although there are some downsides about owning a business, it is really fun and a great way to learn responsibility.
